Position Overview

Our team is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the engineering, design, and delivery of modular data center infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer with 7 years of engineering and design experience, particularly within data centers, industrial facilities, large-scale infrastructure, or complex manufacturing environments.

The Project Engineer will take ownership of key technical aspects of projects from initial design through construction, commissioning, and final delivery. The role requires strong mechanical and piping knowledge, the ability to interpret and approve engineering documentation, and the communication skills necessary to work directly with clients and cross-functional project teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Engineering Leadership

  • Support the Engineering Manager in delivering complex data center projects.
  • Take ownership of assigned engineering and technical workstreams.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Construction, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Lead technical discussions and provide guidance to engineering team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and mentoring engineers as project demands increase.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Engineering Design & Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure designs meet customer requirements, applicable codes, safety regulations, and engineering best practices.
  • Develop engineering scopes of work, execution plans, schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate designs across multiple projects and customers.
  • Identify technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions.

Mechanical & Piping Engineering

Develop and review engineering deliverables including:

  • Equipment lists
  • Valve lists
  • Piping layouts and line lists
  • Mechanical equipment datasheets
  • Pipe sizing calculations
  • Pipe stress analysis
  • Piping load information for structural engineering
  • Mechanical system specifications
  • Technical requisitions for mechanical equipment and systems

Support the engineering and design of:

  • Mechanical systems
  • Industrial piping systems
  • Fire protection and fire suppression systems
  • Equipment mounting and installation systems
  • Modular infrastructure and related mechanical systems

Client & Construction Support

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customers and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, site visits, and commissioning activities.
  • Answer technical questions and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Troubleshoot engineering and installation issues in the field.
  • Review and manage engineering changes and technical documentation.
  • Support projects through construction, startup, and commissioning.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, cost, and project execution.
  • Stay current with data center technologies, engineering practices, and industry trends.
  • Evaluate coatings, mounting systems, installation methods, and other technical solutions.
  • Promote engineering best practices and lessons learned across projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7 years of mechanical engineering and design experience.
  • Experience supporting industrial facilities, large infrastructure projects, data centers, manufacturing facilities, or similar complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and piping systems.
  • Experience with fire protection/fire suppression systems.
  • Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities.
  • Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.

Preferred Technical Experience

Experience with the following software is preferred:

  • SolidWorks
  • Autodesk Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • BIM 360
  • Navisworks

Experience with the following codes and industry standards is highly desirable:

  • AISI – American Iron and Steel Institute
  • ANSI – American National Standards Institute
  • ASME B&PV Section VIII, Section IX, and B31.3
  • ASTM – American Society for Testing and Materials
  • AWS – American Welding Society
  • IBC – International Building Code
  • MFMA – Metal Framing Manufacturers Association
  • Client – Manufacturers Standardization Society
  • OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Administration
  • NACE – National Association of Corrosion Engineers
  • NFPA – National Fire Protection Association
  • PFI – Pipe Fabrication Institute

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior-level, hands-on engineer who can bridge the gap between engineering design, project execution, construction, and the customer. They should be comfortable taking technical ownership, reviewing engineering work, solving field issues, and communicating with both internal teams and external clients.

Candidates with backgrounds in data centers, industrial facilities, process/manufacturing plants, modular construction, piping engineering, mechanical infrastructure, EPC projects, or large-scale capital projects are encouraged to apply.

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
