SUMMARY:
Precision Metal Works, a Bartell Global Company, manufactures metal stamped parts and components for the appliance and automotive industries. We have approximately 250 team members and two manufacturing facilities in Louisville, KY. Our facilities boast 36 stamping presses, a state-of-the-art powder coating line , robotic welding, cosmetic stainless-steel finishing and numerous assembly operations.

Precision Metal Works has an immediate opening for a Production Technician. The Production Technician operates production machinery consistent with established standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform manufacturing processes to complete assemblies using machines or presses
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department Lead
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Must understand and perform to the Fundamentals of Manufacturing
  • Work efficiently in a team environment
  • Must adhere to all safety and operational processes and company policy
  • Must operate using job specific PPE
  • Safe use of various equipment, follow process specifications, and meet production standards to manufacture products.
  • Perform various operations to supply products to meet customer requirements.
  • Use visual inspection, gauges and other measurement devices to ensure accurate output and quality of products.
  • Understand and utilize all guarding / protection.
  • Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials.
  • Change machine setups and/or make minor adjustments to machines to produce product, which meets the designated product specifications for that particular workstation.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written formats
  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing plant preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization required
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to understand and follow all safety rules in facility and performs all safety checks within assigned area to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business correspondences, Safety Notices, Control Plans, Quality Alerts, and Assembly/Packaging instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach. Must be able to climb up and down, as well as work using a ladder.
  • Employee is regularly exposed to vibration, and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Must be present on the job to perform the assigned duties and be able to work overtime which is often required to meet production schedules

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration and may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to varied temperatures due to working in a non-air-conditioned facility. In addition, the employee is regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and a very loud noise environment.
