About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Product Development Engineer to join a growing manufacturing organization in Tulsa. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys turning ideas into practical, working products and seeing those designs through to production.
You’ll be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from developing initial concepts and creating engineering designs to building prototypes, evaluating performance, and preparing products for manufacturing. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain, you’ll help develop and improve products that meet performance expectations, maintain quality standards, and can be manufactured efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop new products, mechanical components, and assemblies for industrial applications.
- Improve existing designs to address performance, reliability, manufacturing, and cost considerations.
- Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material (BOMs), and technical documentation.
- Support prototype builds, evaluate design performance, and coordinate product testing and validation.
- Analyze test results, troubleshoot design issues, and recommend engineering improvements.
- Partner with Manufacturing to ensure designs are practical, repeatable, and efficient to produce.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve assembly, production efficiency, and product quality.
- Work with Purchasing and suppliers to evaluate materials, components, and alternative design solutions.
- Collaborate with Quality and other engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve product performance.
- Evaluate product costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or functionality.
- Support engineering changes, design reviews, and the transition of new or revised products into production.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Experience in product development, mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or a similar engineering role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience using 3D CAD software to develop models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and product requirements.
- Understanding of bills of material, engineering documentation, and design change processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through technical challenges.
- Ability to collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and other engineering disciplines.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Experience That Could Be Helpful
- Taking products from initial concept through prototype, testing, and production release.
- Industrial equipment, fabricated products, or mechanical assemblies.
- New product introduction and production launch activities.
- Prototype development, design verification, and performance testing.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and assembly optimization.
- Value engineering, material selection, and product cost reduction.
- Working with suppliers on custom or engineered components.
- Experience in engineered-to-order or other manufacturing environments where products require customization.
Who This Could Be a Great Fit For
This is not simply a CAD design position. We’re looking for an engineer who understands that a successful design has to work in the real world—not just on a computer screen.
If you enjoy developing new products, solving mechanical design challenges, collaborating with manufacturing teams, and seeing your engineering work move from concept to a finished product, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on what a company builds and how well it performs.
