Product Designer

Position Overview

The Product Designer combines creative design, engineering, and CAD expertise to develop seating products for OEM, commercial vehicle, aftermarket, and motorsports applications. This role balances innovative design, functionality, manufacturability, and aesthetics while creating detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define design, performance, production, and project requirements.

• Develop product concepts using CAD and initial sketches.

• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, specifications, and part lists.

• Participate in multidisciplinary design and engineering meetings.

• Verify and validate designs using physical samples, working models, computerized modeling, and testing methods.

• Identify and resolve complex mechanical and design challenges.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, and other departments regarding production processes, costs, and commercial considerations.

• Evaluate production feasibility at customer facilities as needed.

• Present design concepts and proposals to senior management and customers.

• Support projects from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Technical school degree or certified professional CAD training.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in product design or a related field.

• Background and experience in complete seat engineering and design.

• Required experience with CAD techniques, including surfacing, modeling, assemblies, and 2D drafting.

• Required knowledge and experience with FTP/Data Exchange Protocol.

• Required 3D PLM/Teamcenter experience.

• CATIA V5 required; UG NX experience is helpful but not required.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Computer proficiency, including MS Office and Excel or equivalent.

• Experience with ERP systems; PLEX preferred.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

• Ability to travel occasionally to customer production facilities.
