About the Opportunity
We're looking for a hands-on Procurement Supervisor who enjoys leading from the front. This position combines day-to-day purchasing responsibilities with leadership of a small procurement team, making it ideal for someone who still enjoys negotiating with suppliers, solving supply chain challenges, and working closely with manufacturing operations.
Success in this role requires a solid understanding of fabrication processes, engineered components, and technical drawings. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure materials and fabricated parts meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
What You'll Be Doing
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Source and purchase raw materials, fabricated components, and specialty parts used in industrial manufacturing
- Build strong relationships with fabricators, machine shops, and strategic suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial agreements to support production goals
- Manage purchase orders and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and on-time delivery
Leadership & Operations
- Provide day-to-day leadership and support for the purchasing team while remaining actively involved in procurement activities
- Assist with workload coordination, supplier issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster strong communication across Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Quality departments
Technical Collaboration
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and technical specifications
- Work alongside internal teams and suppliers to ensure manufactured components meet design requirements
- Support sourcing strategies that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier partnerships
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and bills of material (BOMs)
- Strong supplier negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
- Solid understanding of machining, welding, forming, and metal fabrication processes
- Experience within a heavy fabrication manufacturing environment and/or the heat exchanger industry is strongly preferred
Work Environment
This position is split between a professional office setting and an active manufacturing facility. Regular interaction with production personnel, engineers, suppliers, and fabrication partners is expected. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment while supporting multiple priorities.
