Summary
Digitally design orthodontic appliance setups utilizing CAD software in preparation for mechanical wire bending fabrication. Manipulate and adjust digital impressions and intraoral scans to ensure precise, patient-specific appliance designs with varying levels of instruction and supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize specialized CAD software to design and mark custom fixed and removable appliance setups before wire bending, including straight labial bows and other simple appliances.
  • Prepare and export wire designs for robotic bending systems with high accuracy.
  • Load and operate robotic bending systems for all appliances, including those designed by higher-level technicians.
  • Perform light manual adjustments and finishing bends after machine bending to meet individual case requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet production goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Understand and identify defects in accordance with applicable workmanship standards.
  • Record production information and track work progress.
  • Average 25-40 points per day.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret job orders, specifications, and small print for assemblies.
  • Proficiency in CAD design software (e.g., 3Shape, Dental Wings, etc.).
  • Ability to use hand and semi-automatic tools including but not limited to: pliers, soldering irons, hand drills.
  • Ability to manipulate wire work with tedious and small parts.
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to produce quality results and reach daily production goals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, training in dental technology or CAD design preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, dental, orthodontic, or medical device production preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in a CAD design environment, preferably in an orthodontic or dental environment.
  • Basic knowledge of dental anatomy and orthodontic appliances preferred.
  • Preemployment background check is required
