Position Title: Powders Weigh Up and Blending Operator

Classification: Temp-to-Hire | Hourly | Non-Exempt
Department: Production
Reports To: Production Manager
Schedule: 5am - 3:30pm Mon-Fri

General Description:

The Powders Weigh Up and Blending Operator performs and/or supports the operations of the Powders Weigh Up and Blending Rooms, ensures proper procedures are followed to meet assigned production targets, and maintains the safety and quality of products.

Safety-Sensitive Position:
This position is considered safety-sensitive. Safety-sensitive positions are defined as positions where the employee operates, repairs, maintains, or monitors the performance or operation of a motor vehicle, equipment, machinery, or power tools. Safety-sensitive positions also include jobs where the tasks or duties required of the employee could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Good Manufacturing & Safety Practices

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Follow good health and hygiene practices, including gowning.
  • Follow procedures for changing gloves in between raw materials.
  • Follow Good Weighing Practices.
  • Follow safety policies, programs, and procedures.

Powders Weigh Up

  • Stage raw materials for weigh up.
  • Accurately weigh raw materials according to the batch production record.
  • Follow approved operating procedures for weigh up of materials.
  • Read scale weight properly and record the EXACT weight on the batch production record following Good Documentation Practices.

Blending Operations

  • Follow approved operating procedures for blending raw materials.
  • Follow batch production record for blending times.
  • Record blending times on the Batch Production Record.

Cleaning & Documentation

  • Clean and sanitize weigh up and blending utensils following approved procedures.
  • Clean weigh up and blending room following approved procedures.
  • Use Good Documentation Practices and write legibly on all documentation.

Equipment & General Responsibilities

  • Notify maintenance if equipment in the weigh up room needs attention.
  • Record work on time sheets.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Basic mathematical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency, accountability, professionalism, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to follow directions on the batch production record.
  • Ability to follow approved operating procedures.
  • Ability to read and record weights in grams and kilograms.
  • Write legibly and use Good Documentation Practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Stand/remain upright, walk, kneel, bend, turn, stoop, and squat repetitively.
  • Operate a pallet jack.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
