Powder Coater
The Powder Coater is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components to meet high-quality production standards. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial powder coating processes, understands coating techniques, and takes pride in producing a high-quality finished product in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare metal components for powder coating by cleaning, masking, and inspecting surfaces.
- Apply powder coating using electrostatic spray equipment while maintaining consistent coverage and finish quality.
- Operate curing ovens and monitor temperatures and cure times according to specifications.
- Inspect finished parts for coating thickness, appearance, adhesion, and overall quality.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production specifications.
- Perform color changes, equipment cleaning, and routine maintenance on powder coating equipment.
- Troubleshoot coating defects and make process adjustments to improve quality.
- Maintain inventory of powders, supplies, and materials as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety guidelines.
- Minimum 2 years of powder coating or industrial finishing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating electrostatic powder coating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production drawings.
- Knowledge of powder coating application techniques, curing processes, and quality standards.
- Ability to identify and correct coating defects such as orange peel, pinholes, uneven coverage, or contamination.
- Experience with proper surface preparation and masking techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Experience coating aluminum, steel, or fabricated metal products.
- Previous experience in a custom manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
