About the Role

A growing industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on PLC & Controls Technician to support automation systems, electrical controls, and industrial equipment operations.

This position combines PLC/HMI programming, electrical troubleshooting, panel fabrication, system testing, commissioning, and customer support. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, working with automation technology, and supporting equipment from concept through startup.


Key Responsibilities

Automation & Controls

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs, HMI interfaces, VFDs, and industrial control systems.
  • Support system integration, commissioning, startup activities, and ongoing automation improvements.

Electrical Systems & Troubleshooting

  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using multimeters and diagnostic equipment while verifying system functionality.

Panel Fabrication & Testing

  • Assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and electrical assemblies.
  • Complete point-to-point wiring and ensure systems meet quality and performance standards.

Customer & Project Support

  • Provide technical support to customers and assist with troubleshooting, integration, and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Operations teams to support successful project completion.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of PLC programming experience.
  • Experience working with industrial automation and electrical control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with industrial control panel assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Preferred Experience

  • Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
  • HMI programming, VFDs, industrial communication networks, and control devices.
  • Manufacturing, automation, process equipment, or industrial machinery environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and best practices.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Technical degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, Automation, or a related field preferred.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and industrial manufacturing environments. Candidates should be comfortable working around production equipment and machinery while following all safety requirements.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated work areas.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform detailed electrical and mechanical troubleshooting activities.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing facilities and customer locations as needed.

Schedule

Full-Time

Monday – Friday

Occasional overtime and travel may be required based on project needs.
