Position Overview
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for supporting all functions of the time and attendance payroll system for a union workforce. This position ensures accurate payroll processing through the reconciliation of employee hours, incentive pay, and production data. The Payroll Clerk will partner closely with Human Resources, supervisors, and operations to ensure payroll activities comply with union agreements, employment policies, and benefits practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily payroll operations within ADP eTime, including entering, reviewing, and clearing timecard exceptions.
- Collaborate with supervisors and employees to verify hours, production data, and incentive pay for payroll accuracy.
- Reconcile daily payroll and production summaries, ensuring alignment between timekeeping and manufacturing systems.
- Enter and maintain production data within time and attendance and manufacturing systems.
- Prepare shift summaries and maintain detailed spreadsheets to support operational planning.
- Track, document, and process payroll adjustments using supervisor-approved documentation.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding timecards, pay, and adjustments.
- Partner with Human Resources to ensure payroll processing adheres to union contracts, policies, and benefits practices.
- Maintain accurate tracking and reconciliation of union dues payments.
- Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and process integrity.
- Support process improvement initiatives between operations and payroll to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Train and support team members on payroll processes and system usage.
- Generate and distribute payroll and operational reports as needed.
- Document internal payroll processes and maintain organized records.
- Perform additional administrative duties, including label printing, static record reviews, and other assigned tasks.
- Assist with basic accounting-related tasks as needed.
Skills & Experience
- 1 years of experience with ADP eTime or a similar payroll/timekeeping system.
- 1 years of experience working in a union environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail with experience managing and reconciling spreadsheet-based data.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with employees, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Exposure to SAP preferred.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college coursework in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
