Job Summary:
The Paint Line Operator is responsible for preparing, painting, and inspecting metal components as they move through the production paint process. This position requires attention to detail, consistent production performance, quality control, and strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the paint line and related production equipment.
- Load and unload metal components onto the paint line.
- Properly position parts to ensure complete and consistent paint coverage.
- Prepare parts for painting by cleaning, wiping, or performing other required preparation.
- Monitor painted parts for proper coverage, finish, color, and overall quality.
- Identify defects such as runs, drips, missed areas, contamination, or improper coating.
- Perform required quality checks and communicate defects to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain production rates while meeting company quality standards.
- Follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures.
- Keep the paint line and surrounding work area clean and organized.
- Assist with routine equipment cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Accurately report production information and problems as directed.
- Safely handle materials, components, and production equipment.
- Work with coworkers and technical personnel to address production or equipment issues.
- Participate in safety training and continuous-improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred or required depending on the specific assignment.
- Previous manufacturing, paint line, powder coating, automotive, or industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and materials.
- Ability to work overtime as production demands require.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements may be required.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs., depending on the assignment.
- Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Must wear required PPE, including appropriate eye, ear, and foot protection.
