MES / SAP Shop Floor Management Specialist
Work Arrangement: 100% Remote
Schedule: 4/10-A (four 10-hour workdays; specific days to be confirmed)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced MES / SAP Shop Floor Management Specialist to support manufacturing operations within a complex aerospace and defense environment.
This position focuses on providing day-to-day technical support, troubleshooting production issues, maintaining system accuracy, and improving manufacturing workflows. The specialist will work closely with production teams, engineering, quality assurance, and IT to resolve system problems and keep manufacturing operations running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
MES & SAP SFM Production Support
- Provide daily technical support for MES and SAP Shop Floor Management applications.
- Troubleshoot system errors, performance issues, and production interruptions.
- Monitor manufacturing transactions and ensure production data is accurately recorded.
- Support production operations across assigned shifts.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
- Investigate system issues affecting work orders, materials, labor reporting, and production workflows.
- Identify the root cause of manufacturing system failures and data discrepancies.
- Work with engineering, quality, and IT teams to resolve production problems.
- Document issues, corrective actions, and resolutions.
System Configuration & Maintenance
- Support MES and SAP SFM system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
- Assist with workflow improvements and system enhancements.
- Help maintain system performance and reliability.
- Support changes related to manufacturing requirements and engineering updates.
Manufacturing Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate production, labor, material consumption, and traceability records.
- Use SQL and reporting tools to investigate data issues.
- Generate and validate operational reports.
- Support data accuracy across MES, SAP, and connected manufacturing systems.
Cross-Functional Support & Training
- Work with production supervisors, manufacturing engineers, quality teams, and IT.
- Help shop floor employees troubleshoot system issues.
- Train users on MES and SAP SFM functionality and proper data entry.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations.
Required Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree + 6 years or Master’s degree +4 years
- Hands-on experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Experience with SAP Shop Floor Management (SFM) or closely related SAP manufacturing functionality.
- Understanding of manufacturing operations, production workflows, and work order management.
- Experience troubleshooting production system issues and performing root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of material tracking, production transactions, and manufacturing traceability.
- SQL experience for troubleshooting, data validation, and reporting.
- Experience supporting manufacturing system configurations, upgrades, or enhancements.
- Ability to communicate with manufacturing personnel, engineers, and IT teams.
Additional Technical Experience
- Siemens Opcenter or other MES platforms.
- Python or VBA scripting.
- OPC-UA, REST APIs, or MQTT integrations.
- MES integration with ERP, PLC, or Manufacturing Operations Management systems.
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
- AS9100, ITAR, CMM, or POA&M-related compliance knowledge.
