Mortgage Loan Closing & Funding Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Closing & Funding Specialist to support the mortgage lending process from application through closing and funding. This role is responsible for reviewing loan documentation, performing quality control, coordinating closings, funding residential mortgage loans, and ensuring compliance with all applicable lending regulations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages multiple priorities effectively, and delivers exceptional service to members and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare pre-closing Loan Quality Initiative (LQI) requirements.
  • Perform credit analysis and quality control reviews of loan documentation.
  • Coordinate accurate closing and funding of residential mortgage loans across all 50 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Process mortgage applications for both purchase and refinance transactions.
  • Serve as a backup for inbound member calls and assist with mortgage loan applications through the loan origination system.
  • Represent the Mortgage Department at credit union events, seminars, and special projects as assigned.
  • Meet established production goals and departmental deadlines.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of member account information.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous banking or credit union experience.
  • Previous residential mortgage lending experience.
  • Experience with residential mortgage closing and funding.
  • Knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience using mortgage loan origination systems.
  • Working knowledge of Desktop Underwriting, Prime Alliance, Episys, or similar mortgage processing software.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strong attendance and performance standards.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment compliance screenings.
