Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of custom-engineered industrial equipment and fabricated structures. This position is responsible for mechanical and structural design, 3D modeling, engineering calculations, and the development of detailed fabrication drawings.

The ideal candidate has experience designing structural steel assemblies and fabricated equipment within a manufacturing environment and is comfortable supporting projects from initial design through production.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical and structural designs based on customer specifications and project requirements.

  • Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.

  • Design structural steel frames, bases, supports, platforms, stairs, enclosures, and related fabricated components.

  • Develop fabrication and assembly drawings for manufacturing.

  • Perform engineering calculations to verify structural integrity and design requirements.

  • Analyze dead loads, live loads, equipment loads, wind loads, lifting loads, and transportation loads as applicable.

  • Evaluate equipment support and mounting requirements.

  • Perform thermal load calculations and assist with HVAC system sizing and component selection.

  • Select and specify structural members, materials, fasteners, welds, coatings, hardware, and mechanical components.

  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain accurate engineering documentation.

  • Review designs for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and compliance before release to production.

  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, purchasing, and manufacturing throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements related to quality, manufacturability, cost, and efficiency.

  • Provide technical support to fabrication and manufacturing teams.

  • Resolve drawing discrepancies, production questions, and other design-related issues.

  • Develop and implement engineering revisions when required.

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable customer requirements, engineering standards, and industry codes.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HVAC sizing or thermal-load calculations.

  • Experience supporting welding and fabrication operations.

  • Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing principles.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.

Codes & Standards

Working knowledge of applicable engineering and safety standards may include:

  • International Building Code (IBC)
