Join an employee-owned engineering and manufacturing company designing custom pressure vessels and process equipment for the energy, industrial, and nuclear markets. This is an opportunity to own projects from concept through fabrication, working on highly engineered, one-of-a-kind equipment rather than repetitive production designs. If you enjoy solving complex mechanical design challenges and have experience with ASME Section VIII pressure vessel design, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Design custom pressure vessels and process equipment from concept through fabrication.
- Perform ASME Section VIII design calculations using engineering principles and industry software.
- Create and review P&IDs, engineering drawings, and 3D models.
- Size vessels, piping, valves, and pressure relief devices for custom applications.
- Interpret customer specifications and develop technical solutions.
- Partner with estimating, drafting, fabrication, and project teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Apply ASME, API, ANSI, and NFPA standards throughout the design process.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline).
- 3+ years of experience designing pressure vessels, process equipment, or heat exchangers.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API, ANSI, and NFPA codes and standards.
- Experience using Compress and process modeling software(ProMax or similar) for pressure vessel and equipment design.
- Ability to perform pressure vessel calculations and equipment sizing—not solely relying on software-generated outputs.
- Experience developing and reviewing P&IDs, engineering drawings, and 3D models.
- Working knowledge of fabrication processes, including welding, forming, and interpretation of shop drawings.
- Experience with electrical area classification and process control system design.
Preferred
- Structural analysis experience
- Heat exchanger design
- Process controls
- Electrical area classification
- Primarily office-based with in-facility drawing/design review and occasional shop-floor exposure (PPE required)
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
- Occasional travel by car or air; light lifting may be required
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
