Manufacturing Planner

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Planner to develop detailed manufacturing work instructions, process plans, and supporting documentation used to manufacture and assemble complex products. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, CAD models, and other technical documentation and translate those requirements into clear, practical instructions for production.

This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Tool Design, Tooling, and Quality to ensure manufacturing processes accurately reflect engineering requirements and can be executed efficiently on the production floor.

Do not submit candidates disqualified from 20199 or 21540

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, processes, and technical documentation to determine appropriate manufacturing operations and sequences.
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing work instructions and supporting documentation for production.
  • Plan manufacturing operations involving machine parts, composite details and assemblies, airframe structures, aircraft systems, electrical/wiring, plumbing, coatings, aircraft maintenance, MRB, or other applicable manufacturing processes.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, fabrication methods, inspection requirements, and shop practices when developing process plans.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Tool Design, Tool Shops, Quality, and Production to resolve manufacturing and documentation issues.
  • Interpret engineering requirements and provide input regarding tooling, manufacturing methods, process sequencing, and production requirements.
  • Investigate discrepancies between engineering requirements and manufacturing processes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support changes to manufacturing documentation resulting from engineering revisions, process improvements, or production requirements.
  • Ensure work instructions and manufacturing documentation accurately communicate requirements to production personnel.
  • Support alignment between Engineering BOMs (EBOM), Manufacturing BOMs (MBOM), and Order BOMs (OBOM).
  • Utilize manufacturing, ERP, PLM, CAD, and other technical systems to create and maintain manufacturing documentation and product data.
  • Maintain effective communication with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience creating manufacturing work instructions, process plans, or equivalent manufacturing/engineering documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing comprehensive work instructions for one or more of the following:
    • Machine parts
    • Composite details or assemblies
    • Airframe structures
    • Aircraft systems
    • Aircraft check-outs
    • Wiring/electrical systems
    • Plumbing
    • Aircraft maintenance
    • MRB/nonconformance
    • Coatings
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, tooling, and inspection requirements.
  • Strong technical/instructional writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Tooling, Quality, and other cross-functional organizations.
  • Experience using manufacturing or engineering documentation systems such as SAP, Teamcenter, Solumina/iBASEt, 3DX, CAPP/SFM, or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace or aviation manufacturing experience.
  • Understanding of EBOM, MBOM, and OBOM structures.
  • Experience resolving BOM or product-data discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAE software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience with PLM systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or SAP PLM.
  • Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing product-data management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or another complex manufacturing environment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong manufacturing professional who understands how a product is manufactured not simply how it is scheduled. They should be able to take an engineering drawing or model, understand the manufacturing requirements, determine the appropriate process and sequence, and produce detailed work instructions that can be successfully executed by production personnel.

Important: This is a technical Manufacturing Planning / Work Instruction position. It is not a Supply Chain, Material Planning, Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, or Production Scheduling role.
