Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing/Process/Design Engineer
with 5–7 years of engineering experience to support manufacturing operations, process development, engineering design, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will work under the direction of senior engineering staff while applying established engineering methods, practices, standards, and procedures to solve technical and manufacturing-related problems.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, design applications, and data analysis, with the ability to evaluate technical information and develop practical solutions that improve production performance, quality, efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing, process, and design engineering activities for production and engineering projects.
- Perform engineering assignments involving the evaluation, development, improvement, and application of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Analyze manufacturing and engineering data to identify trends, problems, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop plans and recommendations for assigned engineering projects and process improvements.
- Apply established engineering principles, specifications, drawings, standards, and company procedures to develop effective solutions.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and manufacturing requirements.
- Assist with the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and production improvements.
- Investigate production issues and provide root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and other Engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
- Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to increase productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Collect, organize, and evaluate technical and production data to support engineering decisions.
- Prepare engineering reports, documentation, procedures, work instructions, and project plans.
- Support design applications and modifications based on manufacturing requirements and production needs.
- Participate in equipment/process implementation, testing, validation, and troubleshooting as required.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable company standards, quality requirements, safety procedures, and industry practices.
- Work with senior engineers and engineering leadership on more complex technical issues and projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5–7 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, design engineering, or a combination of these disciplines.
- Strong ability to analyze technical and manufacturing data and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Familiarity with CAD/design tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, NX, or similar software.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production systems, tooling, equipment, and process improvement methodologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering assignments and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
What the Hiring Manager Is Really Looking For
This role is essentially looking for someone who can take an engineering problem, review the available technical information/data, determine the appropriate solution, and develop a plan to implement it.
The strongest candidates will typically have backgrounds such as:
Manufacturing Engineer → Process Engineer → Design/Mechanical Engineer → Production Engineer → Industrial Engineer with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments, process improvement, engineering design, troubleshooting, data analysis, and production support.
