About the Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced Manufacturing Buye r- MRO to support manufacturing operations by ensuring maintenance teams have the parts, supplies, and services they need to keep production running efficiently.
This role is responsible for purchasing maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials, managing inventory of critical spare parts, coordinating outside service providers, and building strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate understands the urgency of supporting manufacturing uptime and thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment.
What You'll Be Doing
MRO Purchasing & Inventory
- Purchase maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials that support daily manufacturing operations
- Source shop consumables including welding supplies, abrasives, cutting tools, PPE, filters, and other production support items
- Maintain inventory levels for critical spare parts including motors, pumps, valves, bearings, and related equipment
- Expedite urgent material requests to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions
Supplier & Service Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and outside service providers
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and service agreements
- Coordinate facility-related service contracts such as waste removal, landscaping, pest control, and other operational services
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve purchasing or service-related issues
Purchasing Operations
- Create and manage purchase orders within the ERP system
- Maintain accurate vendor information, pricing, and purchasing records
- Assist with invoice discrepancies and ensure purchasing activities follow company policies and safety requirements
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs and improve inventory management
- Analyze purchasing trends and spending data to support better decision-making
- Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, EHS, and Finance to improve operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- 2–3 years of MRO purchasing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience managing supplier relationships and service contracts
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting heavy fabrication manufacturing and/or the heat exchanger or pressure vessel industry is strongly preferred
Work Environment
This position regularly supports both office and manufacturing operations. Candidates should be comfortable working in an active fabrication environment with exposure to noise, dust, metal particles, and varying temperatures. PPE is required while in production areas.
The role requires frequent walking throughout the facility, occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed to support plant operations.
