Position Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and continuous operation of production equipment and facility systems. This role supports manufacturing uptime by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and executing timely mechanical and electrical repairs. The technician works in a fast-paced production environment where minimizing downtime and maintaining equipment integrity are critical to operational success.


Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on production machinery and facility systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, sensors, and control systems
  • Diagnose equipment failures and restore equipment to full operational condition
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery to validate repairs and ensure proper function

PLC & Electrical Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems
  • Work with electrical distribution systems, control circuits, and instrumentation
  • Identify root causes of electrical and mechanical failures and implement sustainable solutions

Preventive Maintenance (PM) & Reliability

  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks according to schedule
  • Support continuous improvement of PM programs to reduce unscheduled downtime
  • Participate in reliability initiatives to improve equipment lifespan and performance

Work Orders & Documentation

  • Complete assigned work orders within required timeframes
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, CMMS records, and service documentation
  • Communicate maintenance status clearly across departments and shifts

Production Support & Startups

  • Assist with equipment changeovers, line startups, and production ramp-ups
  • Troubleshoot issues during startup and production transitions
  • Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and operating to specification

Parts & Inventory Support

  • Identify required replacement parts during repairs and troubleshooting
  • Maintain awareness of inventory levels and support reordering processes
  • Recommend spare parts and maintenance improvements when needed

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and GMP standards
  • Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with food safety and quality standards
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with operational guidelines

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with industrial machinery and facility systems
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance tracking systems

Preferred

  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment
  • Background in food manufacturing or regulated production environments
  • Industrial electrical or maintenance certifications (a plus)

Technical Skills

  • Motors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and mechanical systems
  • Electrical systems, control circuits, and industrial power distribution
  • PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley or similar systems preferred)
  • HVAC and facility support systems
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance systems
  • CMMS / work order management software
  • Blueprint and schematic interpretation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50–80 lbs regularly
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (8 hours)
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and use manlifts/scissor lifts
  • Work in industrial environments including heat, humidity, noise, and mechanical areas
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and overhead work
  • Exposure to oils, lubricants, chemicals, and vibration
  • Ability to work safely in confined or elevated areas when required

Work Environment

This position operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where production uptime is critical. The technician will work both independently and as part of a maintenance and operations team. Flexibility for shift work, overtime, and emergency response situations may be required based on production needs.
