Job Description:

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery and company facilities.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Follows all safety policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Complete visual inspections before operating heavy equipment to ensure proper and safe use of equipment.
  • Ensure all tools and parts are safely inspected and properly maintained during each shift, and securely stored after each shift.
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • Maintains a neat and organized work area when performing installation and maintenance of machines and machine parts, including when removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts and machinery.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Properly diagnose issues related to machinery to determine parts and repairs needed.
  • Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, vehicles, and supplies.
  • Regularly conduct inventory of commonly used parts at plants to ensure appropriately stocked at the facilities, restocking when necessary.
  • Coordinates with Industrial Maintenance Manager to schedule regular maintenance and installation of machines.
  • Collaborates with Plant Manager regarding repairs needed, parts, and any safety concerns noted at facility.
  • Ensure safe operation when making necessary modifications and implementing test runs; confers with Plant Manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



Requirements/Preferences:
  • Knowledge of and supporting appropriate safety practices, standards, policies, and procedures related to all operation of the plant, including but not limited to, equipment, cleanliness, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
  • Welding, torch cutting, pneumatics, hydraulic experience, preferred.
  • Safely operate equipment such as, forklifts, loaders, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs), tele-handlers, etc.
  • Ability to work safely at variable heights, at times more than 80 feet.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Must have and use own tools consisting of at least (basic hand and power tools).
  • Ability to use, read, and understand various measuring tools, such as, rulers and tape measures, calipers, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, averaging, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours with varying changes to schedule based on uncertainty of repairs and maintenance required, as well as, availability for some on-call work

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience of industrial maintenance experience in industrial maintenance field.
  • Minimum of 2 years electrical experience, required.
  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Experience working in manufacturing industry, preferred.
  • MEWPs Certification (or within first 90 days of employment start date).
  • Tele-handlers Certification (or within first 90 days of employment start date).
  • Welding Certification or minimum of 2 years welding experience, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to function effectively with moderate to high levels of stress in a demanding and dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time and consistently produce organized thoughts and execute sound judgment.
  • Constantly move about outside, in day and nighttime, (including in extremely cold and hot weather conditions) on uneven and unlevel ground containing rocks, glass, sand, mud, water, dirt, and around heavy equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, lying down, walking, and bending.
