Position Overview
The Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of conventional machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role requires fabricating, modifying, or repairing mechanical parts by applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout/machining procedures.
Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation: Safely set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, saws, grinders, and welding equipment.

Production & Fabrication: Manufacture custom fixturing and tooling as required for production runs.

Process Monitoring: Monitor machines constantly during operation to ensure quality, adjusting inputs, parameters, or tooling to produce different parts to exact customer specifications.

Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean work environment by strictly adhering to all safety procedures, company regulations, and PPE requirements.

Shop Support: Assist with inventory control, material handling, and other shop activities as requested by management.

Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of functional/technical machining skills, controls, instrumentation, and specialized tooling.

Logistics Support: Basic understanding of supply management, inventory control, and material handling.
Qualifications & Experience
Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Vocational or technical school training in machining/manufacturing is highly preferred.
