Summary: Nesco Resource is seeking a mechanically inclined and detail-oriented Machine/Grinder Operator to join a precision-focused manufacturing team in Rochester, NY. This temp-to-perm opportunity provides the chance to develop long-term career opportunities while gaining hands-on experience in machining and grinding operations. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality. Operators will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining grinding equipment while ensuring parts meet strict specifications and production standards.
Pay Rate:
- $18.00 - $20.00/Hour (Based On Experience)
Shift(s):
- A Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM | Sunday - Thursday OR Tuesday - Saturday
- B Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM | Monday - Friday
Job Duties:
- Set up, operate, and monitor grinding machines and precision manufacturing equipment
- Load and unload materials while maintaining proper workflow throughout production
- Inspect and measure parts using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools
- Verify parts meet required specifications and maintain tight tolerances
- Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Perform routine machine adjustments, maintenance, and minor troubleshooting
- Record production data and complete quality documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Support continuous improvement efforts and collaborate with team members to achieve production goals
- Identify and communicate equipment, quality, or process concerns to leadership
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous manufacturing, machining, grinding, or machine operation experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
- Basic math skills and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable attendance and safety-focused mindset
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
- Frequent reaching, bending, and movement around machinery
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while maintaining productivity and quality standards
