Nesco Resource is currently sourcing for a Machine Operator for our client in Chesterfield, MI. This is a 2nd shift contract to hire opportunity. You must train on the 1st shift.

Shifts:

  • 2:30pm-11:00pm Monday through Friday (OT based on production needs) Training will take place on the 1st Shift from 6:00am to 2:30pm for as long as needed.
Pay Rate:$18-$19 per hr based on experience

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • MUST be familiar with Lathe machines
  • Monitors machining process for proper operation.
  • Performs machine start up & end of shift procedures.
  • Verifies conformance of machined and assembled parts to specification; inspects first-run piece and spot-checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications in accordance with control plans using inspection gauges.
  • Continue conformance to specifications by periodically recording dimensions on Process Audit Sheets or plotting and interpreting statistical data on graphs.
  • Record production and quality data in accordance with quality standards.
  • Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities.
  • May use a variety of hand tools to assist in equipment changeover and adjustments as required.
  • Performs insert changes, including CNC controller offsets as trained and required.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Loads and unloads parts on stockers and assembles components as necessary.
  • Successfully completes cross training on other machines as required.
  • May perform or assist in changeover procedure.
  • Follows production/process specifications or instructions of technical personnel.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Maintains general housekeeping in work area and throughout the plant.
  • Adhere to MIOSHA standards, follow QMS, EMS systems while performing work.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • GED minimal education requirement.
  • Machine Shop knowledge preferred.
  • G&M coding is not required, but a plus

Reasoning Skills:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Capability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mathematical Skills:
Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides all units of measure. Performs the four operations with like common and decimal fractions. Computes ratio, rate and percentages.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
