Senior Finance Manager – Hybrid | Nassau County, NY

Base Salary: $200K – $225K + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

Our client, a highly respected and growing law firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to join its leadership team in a hybrid capacity out of Nassau County. This is a high-impact opportunity for a strategic finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and wants to play a key role in shaping the financial operations of a sophisticated professional services organization.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in law firm partnership accounting, financial leadership, and operational management who enjoys partnering directly with executive leadership to drive performance, improve processes, and support firm-wide growth initiatives.

Prior law firm accounting experience is required.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Finance Manager will oversee all core accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, trust accounting, and finance-related strategic initiatives while leading and mentoring a high-performing accounting team.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Financial Leadership & Partnership Accounting

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including:
    • General ledger
    • Financial reporting
    • Month-end/year-end close
    • Accounts payable & receivable
    • Payroll coordination
    • Cash management
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Fixed assets
    • Trust/IOLTA accounting
  • Manage accounting functions unique to law firm environments including:
    • Partnership accounting
    • Fee participation calculations
    • Partner distributions
    • Work-in-progress (WIP) monitoring
    • Expense allocations
    • E-billing systems
  • Ensure compliance with all trust accounting regulations and ethical standards
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Deliver financial insights, reporting, and recommendations to firm leadership
  • Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants on audits and filings
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning initiatives

Tax, Benefits & Regulatory Compliance

  • Coordinate annual audits and compliance activities related to benefit plans and retirement programs
  • Oversee tax filings including:
    • 1099s
    • Sales & use tax
    • Commercial Rent Tax
    • PTET payments
    • State-specific filings
  • Manage K-1 preparation and partner-related tax inquiries
  • Ensure all financial, tax, and benefit deadlines are met accurately and on time

Collaboration & Operational Excellence

  • Work closely with Billing, Accounting, and Collections teams to improve realization, collections, reporting, and operational efficiency
  • Monitor aged receivables and support revenue optimization initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and enhanced financial reporting capabilities
  • Participate in accounting system upgrades, implementations, and integrations

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff and departmental personnel
  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and service-oriented culture
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and performance management
  • Serve as a trusted resource and financial partner to leadership and attorneys across the firm

What Our Client Is Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Law firm partnership accounting
    • Trust/IOLTA accounting
    • Financial reporting
    • General ledger management
    • Legal billing operations
  • Experience with legal accounting platforms such as:
    • Elite
    • Aderant
    • SurePoint
    • or similar systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
