We're seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to improve manufacturing processes, production flow, facility layout, and equipment strategy within a high-volume industrial manufacturing environment.

This role has a strong focus on Manufacturing BOMs (MBOMs), plant and production-line layout, custom tooling, capacity planning, and capital equipment procurement. You'll work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Operations to improve productivity, eliminate bottlenecks, and prepare the operation for future growth.

What You'll Own

Manufacturing Flow & Layout

  • Analyze and optimize production-floor layouts to improve workflow, material movement, and overall efficiency.

  • Develop production-line and process layouts that support safe, efficient manufacturing.

  • Identify bottlenecks, unnecessary movement, capacity constraints, and other sources of production inefficiency.

  • Develop and improve process flows to reduce cycle time and material handling.

  • Plan the integration and placement of new machinery and equipment.

  • Maintain accurate layouts, process-flow documentation, and operational standards.

MBOM & Manufacturing Engineering

  • Develop and maintain Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) and related manufacturing documentation.

  • Translate product requirements into practical manufacturing processes and production structures.

  • Work with Engineering and R&D to ensure new products can be efficiently manufactured.

  • Identify differences between engineering product structures and manufacturing requirements.

  • Support new product introduction activities by establishing manufacturing processes and readiness requirements.

  • Improve documentation, standard work, SOPs, and production guidelines.

Tooling & Equipment Engineering

  • Develop and support custom tooling, fixtures, and equipment used throughout manufacturing.

  • Evaluate equipment capabilities and identify opportunities for automation or process improvement.

  • Coordinate equipment installation and integration while minimizing disruption to production.

  • Research and evaluate machinery based on production requirements, capacity, capability, and long-term value.

  • Support vendor evaluations, equipment testing, and technical assessments.

  • Help establish FAT/SAT requirements for new automated or semi-automated equipment.

CAPEX & Capacity Planning

  • Evaluate future production requirements and identify equipment or facility investments needed to support growth.

  • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for capital equipment and manufacturing improvements.

  • Work with leadership to prioritize capital projects based on capacity, cost, productivity, and operational needs.

  • Coordinate with equipment vendors on technical requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Identify and manage risks associated with long-lead-time machinery.

  • Support equipment procurement strategies during new product introduction and expansion projects.

Lean & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives focused on improving productivity, reducing waste, and increasing manufacturing efficiency.

  • Apply Lean principles including 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and line balancing.

  • Analyze production data and investigate root causes of process inefficiencies.

  • Develop and implement corrective actions and process improvements.

  • Evaluate equipment utilization, labor efficiency, cycle times, and production capacity.

  • Measure improvement results and identify opportunities for additional gains.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Operations on process and equipment improvements.

  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure new designs are practical to manufacture.

  • Provide technical input on manufacturing feasibility, equipment requirements, tooling, and production flow.

  • Help resolve production issues involving equipment, process flow, capacity, or manufacturability.

  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams.

  • Support strategic manufacturing initiatives as the organization continues to grow.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's degree is a plus

5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, process optimization, or a similar production-focused role

Strong experience with manufacturing layout, process flow, production systems, and capacity planning

Experience developing or managing MBOMs and understanding the differences between EBOM and MBOM structures

Experience with CAPEX projects, equipment ROI analysis, machinery procurement, and vendor management

Experience with custom tooling, fixtures, production equipment, or manufacturing equipment integration

Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and line balancing

Experience managing long-lead-time equipment requirements during new product introduction or manufacturing expansion

Experience establishing or supporting FAT/SAT protocols for automated or semi-automated equipment

Familiarity with CAD and engineering tools used for facility layouts, process flow, and tooling design

Experience with PLM/ERP systems and manufacturing engineering documentation

Lean Six Sigma or other continuous-improvement experience is a plus

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills

Work Environment

This position is based within an active industrial manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with the production floor. The facility may include machinery, fabrication activities, elevated noise, dust, metal particles, and other typical manufacturing conditions.

Appropriate PPE is required in designated production areas. The role may involve extended periods of standing and walking throughout the facility, along with occasional bending, climbing, kneeling, stooping, and accessing production equipment.

Schedule & Travel

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs.

Travel: Occasional travel may be required for vendor selection, equipment evaluations, audits, and related manufacturing projects.
