Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused HR / Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our manufacturing organization in Elmira, NY. This position will play a key role in attracting, recruiting, onboarding, and retaining talented employees across our manufacturing and corporate teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong recruiting skills, excellent communication abilities, and a practical understanding of human resources in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will partner closely with hiring managers and leadership to identify workforce needs, develop effective recruiting strategies, and ensure a positive candidate and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, offers, and onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Source candidates through job boards, social media, professional networks, employee referrals, community partnerships, and other channels.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified candidates for production, skilled trades, engineering, maintenance, administrative, and leadership positions.
  • Coordinate interviews and communicate professionally with candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Develop relationships with local schools, technical programs, workforce organizations, and community partners to support talent pipelines.
  • Assist with new-hire orientation and onboarding to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Maintain accurate employee and recruiting records within the HRIS and applicant tracking system.
  • Assist with retention initiatives, employee engagement activities, and workforce development programs.
  • Ensure recruiting and HR practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Prepare recruiting and HR reports and track key metrics such as time-to-fill, turnover, retention, and recruiting sources.
  • Represent the company at career fairs, networking events, and other recruiting activities within the Elmira/Finger Lakes region.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and candidate information.
Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in human resources, talent acquisition, recruiting, or a related role.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, engineering, skilled trades, or other high-volume recruiting experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle recruitment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with employees and leaders at all levels of an organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/Applicant Tracking Systems.
