Grants Project Specialist

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote; employee may select in-office days)

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Grants Coordinator Senior, the Grants Project Specialist supports the administration of contracts, grants, and grant-funded programs that benefit veterans and their families throughout Arizona.

This position is responsible for coordinating grant and contract management activities, ensuring compliance and oversight, and providing technical support for community-based grant programs and other veteran support initiatives, including suicide prevention, mental health and substance abuse services, employment programs, and trauma treatment training.

The Grants Project Specialist also collaborates with agency staff and strategic partners to identify and pursue grant opportunities that align with the agency's mission and the needs of Arizona veterans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the administration and oversight of grant-funded programs and contracts.

  • Receive and review Veteran Donation Fund (VDF) applications for completeness and compliance.

  • Present grant applications and recommendations to review committees.

  • Process veteran funding approvals and denials in accordance with program guidelines.

  • Monitor grant activities to ensure compliance with funding requirements, policies, and regulations.

  • Coordinate complex projects involving grants, contracts, and community-based funding initiatives.

  • Provide technical assistance to internal staff, grantees, and community partners.

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting related to grant activities.

  • Collaborate with agency leadership and external partners to identify and pursue new funding opportunities.

  • Support strategic initiatives designed to improve services for Arizona veterans and their families.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of administrative experience in grants administration or grant-funded programs.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience reviewing applications, contracts, or compliance documentation.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with grant compliance, contract administration, or community-based funding programs.

  • Knowledge of veterans' services, behavioral health, or public sector grant programs.

  • Experience presenting information to committees or stakeholders.

  • Project management experience.
