Position Summary
Produces high-quality printed material to job specifications by setting up and operating gluing equipment and related auxiliaries. Responsible for achieving and maintaining adhesion quality to customer standards, coordinating and developing machine crew, documenting production results, and keeping equipment and supplies in order.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the daily shift production schedule
- Coordinate, train, and develop the glue machine crew; assign responsibilities and enforce safe work practices, housekeeping, GMP, and quality procedures
- Document shift performance and report production results
- Read and interpret job orders and specifications
- Determine materials needed to fulfill order requirements
- Organize job sequence on machine; ensure next job is staged and ready for make-ready
- Retrieve required glue materials and WIP as needed
- Perform machine make-ready using available make-ready stock
- Achieve and maintain glue and adhesion quality in line with process and quality specifications
- Inspect finished product to verify quality and process control; take corrective action on deviations
- Troubleshoot machine stoppages and downtime; conduct periodic maintenance checks and assist maintenance personnel with repairs as needed
- Maintain clean and organized work area
- Return excess consumables and materials to designated storage locations
- Follow all safety rules and regulations
- Additional duties as assigned by finishing leadership
Skills & Abilities:
- Able to read, write, record, and communicate production data effectively
- Strong time management and follow-through
- Solid troubleshooting and problem analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and develop a crew
- Computer literate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good color vision
Experience & Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 5 years of experience in a sheet-fed lithography or folding carton operation
- 3 years of progressive manufacturing experience
- Demonstrated track record of improvement in quality and efficiency
Equipment Used:
Pallet jack; folder-gluer equipment including Bobst, Alpina, Jagenberg, and International platforms
Physical Requirements:
Role requires standing or walking for the duration of an 8 hour shift. Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping required. Occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. Frequent use of hands for handling and fine manipulation. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with frequent ability to adjust focus.
