Position Overview

The Accounting Clerk performs entry-level clerical and accounting support duties within an accounting function. This role is responsible for handling routine accounting transactions, supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, maintaining financial records, and assisting with customer inquiries and account research.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, basic accounting knowledge, and the ability to perform routine financial calculations and data entry tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform light clerical and administrative duties within the accounting department
  • Match payments and verify purchase order information
  • Prepare bank deposits and assist with routine banking activities
  • Perform routine calculations and financial data entry tasks
  • Support accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and financial record maintenance
  • Answer customer inquiries related to accounting transactions or account issues
  • Research accounting discrepancies, problems, and customer complaints
  • Create, update, and edit spreadsheets and financial documentation
  • Calculate, post, and verify financial data to maintain accurate accounting records
  • Follow established accounting procedures and instructions to ensure accuracy and compliance

Required Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of accounting, clerical, or administrative experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including:
    • Accounts Payable (A/P)
    • Accounts Receivable (A/R)
    • Bank Reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Technical Skills

  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Experience creating and editing spreadsheets
  • 10-key skills by touch or sight
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and financial data entry
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred, especially Excel
