Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a forklift to move raw materials, finished products, pallets, and production materials throughout the facility.
- Load and unload materials and stage products for production or shipment.
- Supply production areas with materials as needed.
- Grind and process plastic scrap and regrind material according to established procedures.
- Monitor grinder equipment and report unusual noises, jams, or equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Properly sort and handle plastic materials before and after grinding.
- Maintain accurate material handling and production records as required.
- Inspect materials for contamination or improper material before processing.
- Keep the work area, grinder, forklift, and surrounding areas clean and organized.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE and forklift operating requirements.
- Perform routine checks of the forklift and grinding equipment and report maintenance concerns.
- Communicate effectively with production and warehouse team members.
- Assist with general production and material-handling duties as needed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous forklift experience preferred.
- Current or previous forklift certification is a plus.
- Manufacturing, plastics, warehouse, or material-handling experience preferred.
- Experience operating a grinder or similar production equipment is helpful but not required.
- Ability to safely operate equipment after training.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn Omega Plastics' processes and equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and lift.
- Ability to lift and move materials and products as required.
- Ability to work around manufacturing machinery and normal production noise.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
