Overview

Client is seeking a Senior Flight Management Systems Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate complex FMS software for a next-generation avionics project. This role will work with software and systems engineers to meet technical requirements, support functional software deliveries, and maintain compliance with certification requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality core software architectures and applications.
  • Develop and integrate Flight Management Systems software for new products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
  • Implement software solutions that meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
  • Perform software testing and integration using laboratory test benches.
  • Support functional software deliveries and certification activities.
  • Remain current with software development practices and industry trends.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or another technical discipline.
  • Minimum of eight years of Flight Management Systems software development experience.
  • Experience across several FMS functional areas, such as navigation database management, flight planning, lateral or vertical guidance, trajectory predictions, performance optimization, radio tuning, approach operations, datalink, takeoff and landing, or user interface development.
  • Strong C or object-oriented programming skills.
  • Strong software architecture and design development skills.
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum software development methodologies.
  • Must be a U.S. Person.

Preferred Skills or Experience

  • Ideal experience range of 8–15 years.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Embedded software development experience.
  • Multi-core or multi-threaded development experience.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented analysis and design principles.
  • Software development lifecycle experience under DO-178C.
  • Software verification and validation experience using C .

Work Details

  • Hybrid role based in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Minimum of three days per week in the office, with additional flexibility based on assigned work.
