Finance Specialist - Accounts Receivable
Schedule: Onsite M-F, 8-5
Location: Albany, NY
Pay rate: 25-28/hr
Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization serving the Capital Region, is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Specialist to join its Finance team. This position plays an important role in supporting daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts receivable transactions and maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks.
- Enter and code financial data, including account and class coding.
- Prepare and process bank deposits using Remote Deposit Capture.
- Monitor bank accounts and incoming payments, recording deposits and maintaining tracking spreadsheets.
- Assist with general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain client financial accounts and process deposits, payments, and reporting using specialized financial management software.
- Update fixed asset records and prepare depreciation schedules.
- Prepare supporting documentation for monthly financial statements.
- Conduct quarterly audits of petty cash and safe balances at program locations.
- Maintain administrative petty cash funds and related ledgers.
- Enter and code grant-related receivables and cash receipts.
- Assist with collections of outstanding receivables.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in financial records and documentation.
- Provide financial reports, invoice copies, and supporting documentation to staff as needed.
- Maintain organized financial files and records.
- Support additional accounting and finance projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is preferred.
