Summary:
Nesco Resource is seeking a Field Service Engineer
to join a growing automation and machine-building organization in Victor, NY. This role offers the opportunity to work with custom automation systems deployed across a variety of industries while helping build a newly established service department. The ideal candidate has a strong background in automation, controls, robotics, or field service and enjoys solving complex technical challenges both onsite and remotely.
Pay Rate:
$40.00 – $50.00/hour, based on experience

10% Travel Premium While Traveling - Per Diem for Travel Assignments
Shift:
Day Shift | Monday – Friday
Travel Required: Approximately 40%
Additional travel opportunities available for candidates interested in increased field work
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer sites for equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service support
- Support assembly, debugging, validation, and startup of custom automation systems
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, controls, and automation-related issues
- Modify and support PLC, HMI, robotics, motion control, and vision systems
- Perform onsite and remote technical support for customers
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with Engineering, Controls, and Machine Build teams to resolve technical issues
- Document service activities, findings, and recommendations
- Maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication and technical expertise
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in automation, controls, machine building, or field service environments
- OEM automation experience preferred
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex machine and system issues independently
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, robotics, HMIs, industrial controls, and automation systems
- Excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently in customer-facing environments
- Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations
- Willingness to travel approximately 40%
Technical Experience Preferred:
- PLC/HMI Platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Industrial Networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)
- Industrial Robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.)
- Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.)
- Motion Control Systems
- Electrical Panels, Field Wiring, and Controls Integration
- Pneumatic and Mechanical Systems
- Custom Automation and Systems Integration
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Combination of manufacturing, office, and customer-site environments
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and equipment troubleshooting
- Exposure to industrial machinery, automation equipment, and production environments
- Ability to travel domestically and potentially internationally as needed
- Required use of PPE and adherence to all workplace safety procedures
