Fabricator / Welder

Position Type: Full-Time - Day shift
Compensation: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Basic Function
Responsible for all aspects of precision custom fabrication and advanced welding. This position requires a high-level blend of layout skill, blueprint proficiency, and multi-process welding expertise to fabricate jigs, fixtures, and production components to exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Layout & Custom Fabrication: Read blueprints, engineering data, and drawings to take/read measurements and plan fabrication layouts and procedures. Layout, fit, and build precision jigs, fixtures, and tooling.

Multi-Process Welding: Determine appropriate welding equipment and methods based on project requirements. Perform high-quality MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) in all positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).

Specialized Materials: Execute precise TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steels, as well as specialized welding repairs/modifications on tool steel components.

Equipment & Machine Operation: Safely and efficiently operate standard metal fabrication machinery including press brakes, shears, drill presses, and angle grinders to prep, cut, shape, and finish materials.

Material Handling: Safely operate Hilos (forklifts) and other material handling equipment to move stock and tooling as needed.

Quality & Inspection: Align components using calipers, scales, and precision tools before clamping/welding. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to Client flaws, ensure parts are clean and burr-free, and maintain strict tolerances.

Problem Solving & Teamwork: Analyze and solve technical issues with fabrication projects. Actively participate in a team environment and communicate quality non-conformances effectively to supervisors and co-workers.

Shop Maintenance: Maintain all equipment and welding stations in a condition that does not compromise safety. Perform other duties as requested by management.
Skills & Qualifications

Experience: Proven experience as a Welder-Fabricator with a strong background in custom fixture/jig layout and building.

Equipment Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience using a variety of welding equipment, fabrication machinery (shears/brakes preferred), metal cutting tools, and manual hand tools.

Blueprint Reading & GD&T: Advanced ability to interpret complex industrial blueprints, welding symbols, technical schematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) , Bills of Materials (BOM), and work instructions.

Measurement Mastery: Proficient with precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and squares.

Professional Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Education, Training & Certifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications: AWS Certified for GMAW and GTAW in 1G through 4G positions highly preferred/required.

Experience: Verified prior welding and custom fabrication experience.
