FAA Quality Inspector 2 – Safety Sensitive

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced FAA Quality Inspector 2 to support production operations through incoming inspection of purchased components and final inspection of finished assemblies, components, electronic assemblies, electro-mechanical products, and harnesses.

The Quality Inspector will ensure products meet established quality standards, engineering drawings, workmanship requirements, customer specifications, and applicable aerospace regulatory requirements. This position has a strong emphasis on First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in accordance with AS9102.

This is a direct-hire, safety-sensitive position on 1st shift and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components, materials, assemblies, and finished products.
• Inspect electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for compliance with established requirements.
• Perform visual inspection of soldered connections and assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610 standards.
• Inspect harness assemblies and related components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, charts, sketches, parts lists, and technical documentation.
• Apply GD&T principles and dimensional requirements during inspection activities.
• Use precision measuring and inspection equipment as required.
• Create, complete, review, and maintain First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in accordance with AS9102.
• Verify inspection results and maintain appropriate product traceability and quality records.
• Prepare documentation supporting acceptance or rejection of inspected and/or tested products.
• Identify design, manufacturing, process, documentation, or other quality issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Support investigation and resolution of quality issues.
• Perform customer source inspections as required.
• Issue Authorized Release Certificates, tags, and other required quality documentation.
• Maintain inspection records and calibration records.
• Monitor calibration recall requirements and ensure inspection equipment remains properly controlled.
• Prepare certifications in accordance with applicable regulations and customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate and organized quality documentation.
• Follow established inspection procedures while exercising sound judgment when identifying potential quality concerns.
• Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.
• Support additional hours, schedule changes, nights, weekends, or overtime when required by business needs.
• Comply with all Drug-Free Workplace policies and required drug/alcohol screening.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience.
• Aerospace, aviation, electronics, or electro-mechanical manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection principles.
• Experience using measuring and inspection equipment.
• Ability to inspect electronic and/or electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience preparing or reviewing FAIRs/First Article Inspection Reports.
• Knowledge of AS9102.
• Experience with IPC-A-610.
• Aerospace quality inspection experience.
• Experience with soldered assemblies and harnesses.
• Customer source inspection experience.
• Familiarity with FAA or other aerospace regulatory requirements.
• Experience with calibration systems and inspection equipment.
• Experience issuing release certificates/tags.

Physical Requirements

• Approximately 75% sitting and 25% standing/walking indoors.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to look up, down, and side-to-side for extended periods.
• Ability to perform light lifting from floors, tables, and shelves.
• Ability to push and pull loaded and unloaded carts or mobile tables.
• Occasional bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, or reaching above shoulder level.
• Minimal exposure to excessive noise, hazardous chemicals, hazardous equipment, or uneven walking surfaces.
• Ability to work with computers, keyboards, and inspection documentation.
