Entry-Level Bioprocess Laboratory Associate (Downstream Processing)
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Bioprocess Laboratory Associate to support laboratory-scale process development activities focused on biologics and vaccine manufacturing. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with hands-on laboratory experience in downstream processing, biologics purification, or related bioprocessing techniques. The successful candidate will assist with laboratory experiments, data collection, process monitoring, and documentation while working in a collaborative research and development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and prepare laboratory process equipment for lab-scale experiments.
- Prepare laboratory reagents, buffers, solutions, and culture media according to established procedures.
- Execute laboratory-scale downstream processing of biologic and vaccine process intermediates.
- Perform purification operations including filtration and other downstream processing techniques.
- Conduct routine process monitoring assays and collect experimental samples.
- Analyze, organize, and report experimental data to scientists and engineering staff.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, test results, and documentation in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Ensure laboratory work is completed accurately, efficiently, and safely while following standard operating procedures.
- Communicate experimental progress, observations, and results effectively with cross-functional team members.
- Maintain laboratory organization, equipment, and supplies while supporting daily laboratory operations.
- Perform multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
- 0–3 years of relevant laboratory or industry experience.
- Minimum of six months of laboratory experience, preferably supporting biologics or protein purification processes.
- Experience using laboratory pipettes and standard laboratory equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, linked spreadsheets, and data organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation practices.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new laboratory techniques and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) or other membrane filtration technologies.
- Exposure to downstream bioprocessing or biologics purification.
- Experience supporting vaccine, biologics, or pharmaceutical process development.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
