Position Overview
The Electroplating Laborer is responsible for safely supporting the electroplating process from start to finish. This position performs equipment safety checks, loads and unloads parts, assists with plating operations, inspects finished work, and prepares parts for shipment. The role also helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily safety inspections and checklists on all assigned equipment before beginning each shift.
  • Load and unload workpieces from electroplating equipment, including hooks, racks, bars, baskets, and barrels.
  • Move and immerse workpieces through the electroplating process, including cleaning, plating, pickling, and rinsing tanks, either manually or with a hoist while following established timed cycles.
  • Set and monitor tank temperatures according to required specifications.
  • Adjust DC rectifiers as needed to properly activate and maintain the electroplating process.
  • Remove plated parts from racks, hooks, bars, baskets, or barrels and inspect them for defects, including rough surfaces, thin plating, or other quality issues.
  • Dry plated parts using ovens, centrifugal dryers, or compressed air.
  • Perform quality inspections on finished parts and coordinate with Quality Control personnel for final inspection prior to packing.
  • Carefully wrap, package, and label finished parts in boxes or cartons for shipment.
  • Drain, clean, and refill plating tanks and solutions as directed.
  • Remove plating buildup from racks through approved chemical stripping procedures.
  • Immediately report damaged, worn, or malfunctioning equipment and any safety concerns to management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including removing trash and assisting with cleaning common areas, breakrooms, and bathrooms.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and chemical-handling guidelines.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
