Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical/Electronics Reliability Engineer to support a critical aerospace and defense program approaching Critical Design Review (CDR). This role is focused on ensuring the reliability, survivability, and compliance of mission-critical electronic hardware operating in demanding military and space environments.

This is not a general electrical design engineering position. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Worst-Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA), Radiation Effects Engineering, and Electrical Parts Stress Analysis (EPSA), with a proven track record supporting aerospace, defense, satellite, avionics, missile, or space-based systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with hardware, systems, reliability, and test engineering teams to validate that electronic designs meet customer requirements, military standards, and mission reliability objectives prior to formal design reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Reliability Analysis & Design Validation

  • Perform comprehensive Worst-Case Circuit Analyses (WCCA) on analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics designs.
  • Evaluate circuit performance under worst-case operating conditions including component tolerances, temperature extremes, voltage variations, aging effects, and manufacturing variability.
  • Develop and document reliability assessments supporting design certification and program milestones.
  • Identify potential design risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Electrical Parts Stress Analysis (EPSA)

  • Conduct detailed electrical parts stress analyses in accordance with aerospace and defense standards.
  • Evaluate component derating and operational margins for:
    • Resistors
    • Capacitors
    • Diodes
    • Transistors
    • Integrated Circuits
    • Power Devices
  • Verify compliance with program reliability requirements and industry best practices.
  • Generate technical reports supporting customer reviews and qualification activities.

Radiation Effects Engineering

  • Support Radiation Hardness Assurance (RHA) activities for mission-critical electronic systems.
  • Analyze and assess radiation susceptibility including:
    • Total Ionizing Dose (TID)
    • Single Event Effects (SEE)
    • Single Event Latch-Up (SEL)
    • Single Event Burnout (SEB)
    • Single Event Upset (SEU)
  • Coordinate and support radiation testing activities with external laboratories and internal engineering teams.
  • Review and interpret radiation test results and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Develop radiation qualification and compliance documentation.

Design Review Support

  • Prepare technical presentations and engineering reports for Critical Design Reviews (CDR) and customer reviews.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and risk assessments.
  • Support engineering teams in resolving reliability and qualification concerns.
  • Ensure all reliability analyses are completed and documented in accordance with program schedules.

Cross-Functional Engineering Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
    • Hardware Design Engineers
    • Systems Engineers
    • Reliability Engineers
    • Test Engineers
    • Program Management
    • Government and Customer Representatives
  • Support design verification and qualification efforts throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding reliability, component selection, and environmental survivability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 9 years of hands-on experience performing:
    • Worst-Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA)
    • Radiation Effects Engineering
    • Electrical Parts Stress Analysis (EPSA)
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, military, satellite, avionics, missile, or space electronics programs.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles and military/aerospace design requirements.
  • Experience generating technical reports and supporting formal design reviews.
  • Ability to interpret electronic schematics and analyze complex electronic systems.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting satellite, spacecraft, missile defense, radar, avionics, or flight computer programs.
  • Familiarity with military and aerospace reliability standards.
  • Experience with Radiation Hardness Assurance (RHA) methodologies.
  • Prior support of Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), or qualification programs.
  • Experience working directly with government customers and defense prime contractors.
