A growing organization is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to support multiple electric utility customers by developing plans, specifications, and engineering analyses for new construction, system improvements, and maintenance of existing electrical facilities. This is a leadership role requiring an active P.E. license and a strong background in power/high voltage engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing engineers and engineering technicians while delivering cost-effective, code-compliant solutions for cooperatives, municipalities, and investor-owned utilities.

About the Role

The Lead Electrical Engineer will support multiple electric utility customers by developing plans, specifications, and engineering analyses for new construction, system improvements, and maintenance of existing electrical facilities. This role also oversees a team of engineers and engineering technicians. An active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed engineering analyses across planning, maintenance, design, construction, and operations for electric cooperatives, municipalities, and investor-owned utilities (IOUs).
  • Apply engineering principles and industry best practices to create cost-effective, technically sound solutions.
  • Ensure projects meet applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements (RUS, Municipal).
  • Plan, prioritize, and lead engineering assignments and project activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including utility representatives, developers, and property owners regarding project design and compliance.
  • Serve as liaison across internal teams, departments, and external organizations.
  • Partner with engineering technicians to identify and implement quality-control design changes.
  • Manage project schedules across varying project scopes and customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with a focus in power/high voltage.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 5+ years of related experience in electrical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of utility equipment, materials, systems, and operational processes.
  • High proficiency with engineering software and general computer applications.
