Director of Global Logistics & Transportation

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma (Preferred) | Remote Considered for Exceptional Candidates

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced logistics and transportation leader to develop and execute global freight strategy across international sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution operations. This role will oversee all transportation modes including ocean, air, truckload, LTL, parcel, expedited, and project cargo while driving cost optimization, carrier performance, and logistics process standardization.

The successful candidate will build scalable logistics programs supporting global supply chain operations, establish transportation policies and controls, negotiate carrier agreements, and develop reporting systems that improve visibility, service levels, and freight spend management.

Key Responsibilities

Global Transportation Strategy

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide transportation strategies supporting domestic and international operations.

  • Establish transportation policies, routing guides, carrier standards, and logistics governance processes.

  • Standardize shipping methods, documentation requirements, approval workflows, and operating procedures.

  • Develop freight performance metrics, dashboards, and executive-level reporting.

Carrier & Vendor Management

  • Lead carrier sourcing, selection, and contract negotiations.

  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, trucking providers, parcel carriers, brokers, and third-party logistics partners.

  • Evaluate vendor performance, service levels, transit times, claims activity, and compliance.

  • Drive vendor consolidation and transportation cost reduction initiatives.

International Logistics Operations

  • Oversee global freight movements supporting international sourcing and manufacturing operations.

  • Manage ocean, air, and multimodal transportation networks.

  • Coordinate inbound logistics from key global supplier regions.

  • Partner with procurement, sourcing, manufacturing, and operations teams to improve supply chain performance.

Domestic Transportation Management

  • Direct domestic transportation activities including truckload, LTL, parcel, and expedited shipments.

  • Develop routing and consolidation strategies to improve service and reduce transportation spend.

  • Manage carrier relationships and transportation planning activities.

Process Improvement & Analytics

  • Build scalable logistics processes that support organizational growth.

  • Improve shipment visibility, freight auditing, invoice validation, and cost recovery programs.

  • Establish controls for premium freight and emergency shipments.

  • Develop KPIs and reporting tools that support operational decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or related field.

  • 10 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or freight management.

  • Demonstrated experience managing global freight operations.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Ocean Freight

    • Air Freight

    • Domestic Transportation

    • Freight Forwarding

    • Customs Coordination

    • Parcel and Courier Networks

    • Transportation Analytics

  • Experience negotiating transportation contracts and carrier agreements.

  • Experience implementing logistics process improvements and operational controls.

  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing, industrial equipment, construction, energy, or engineered products experience.

  • Experience supporting operations across North America and Europe.

  • Experience managing oversized, project, or specialized cargo.

  • Experience supporting global sourcing initiatives throughout Asia.

  • Experience with ERP, TMS, freight analytics, and transportation management systems.
