Direct Hire Controls Engineer — North Kansas City, MO
Salary Range:$95,000 - $110,000
You'll be the go-to person keeping our automated production lines running and improving. This is a hands-on role, expect to spend most of your time on the plant floor (about 70%), not behind a desk. You'll troubleshoot PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and vision systems, support new equipment launches, and work side-by-side with Maintenance and Production to solve real problems as they come up.
Your involvement spans the full lifecycle, from early project sourcing and RFQ development through equipment launch and beyond. You'll program torque control systems, select error and mistake-proofing devices, and make sure all equipment and process documentation (manuals, BOMs, drawings, spare parts lists, PM schedules) gets handed off cleanly to the plant before start of production. You'll also help track capital budgets, work directly with automation vendors, and support Purchasing in evaluating new suppliers and technologies.
What We're Looking For
Someone who genuinely likes being where the action is. You understand PLC logic, but more than that, you understand how the equipment, the process, and the people on the floor all fit together. You're also comfortable driving lean initiatives (5S, OEE, TPM, Kanban) and enjoy mentoring Maintenance Technicians to help build up the team around you.
