Position: Die Setter / Press Setup Technician
Summary:
The Die Setter is responsible for setting up and maintaining blanking, piercing, and forming operations across a variety of production equipment. This role ensures all tooling, presses, and processes meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards while supporting production and training team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and adjust tooling, presses, and controls for blanking, piercing, and forming operations
- Perform first-piece inspections and ensure quality standards are met, including proper documentation
- Move tooling and materials using mechanical equipment while maintaining proper identification and organization
- Instruct and support operators on job setup and ensure understanding of safety and production requirements
- Set up and verify machine safeguards in compliance with company policies
- Remove, store, and maintain tooling; report any needed repairs to supervision
- Document critical setup details (pressures, distances, clamps, etc.) for future reference
- Operate equipment safely and assist with troubleshooting and adjustments as needed
- Support training of less experienced team members
- Run production as required and assist with Die Assembler duties when needed
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve safety, quality, and cost efficiency
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Press Room Foreman
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Capable of lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy materials
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Die Setter program or equivalent hands-on experience
- Strong blueprint reading, shop math, and measurement skills
- Proficient with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment
- Experience assisting in die assembly
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently on standard jobs with minimal supervision
- Must own required hand tools
- Solid understanding of power press operations and safety procedures
