The Depalletizer (Depal) Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the automatic depalletizing process that supplies jars to the filling room. This role ensures the safe and efficient flow of materials by loading pallets, monitoring equipment, inspecting product quality, and maintaining accurate production records. The Depal Operator also provides backup support for the Case Packer area as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the Automatic Depalletizer, which removes layers of jars from pallets and feeds them into the production process.
- Use a forklift to load pallets of jars into the depalletizer as required.
- Remove and manage empty pallets after the depalletizing process is complete.
- Monitor the movement of jars into the filling room to ensure proper product flow.
- Identify and correct jars that have tipped over, become misaligned, or entered the line upside down.
- Observe wrapped cases exiting the case wrapper and identify any wrapping defects or quality concerns.
- Monitor the case labeler to verify labels are applied correctly and consistently.
- Communicate and coordinate with production team members to address equipment or product flow issues.
- Record pallet and production information accurately using the Redzone application on a tablet.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Cross-train and assist in operating the Case Packer area, providing coverage during operator absences or as production needs require.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Forklift experience or willingness to become forklift certified.
- Ability to monitor production equipment and identify quality issues.
- Basic computer and tablet skills for data entry and production tracking within Redzone.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials as required.
- Frequent visual inspection of products, labels, and packaging.
- Ability to work around moving production equipment and industrial machinery.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift.
