Overview
The Data Warehouse & BI Engineer supports Client’s manufacturing environment by designing, developing, and delivering data warehouse, reporting, and analytics solutions that improve operational visibility and support business decision-making.
This role is responsible for the full solution lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture and design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in data warehousing, SQL development, ETL, and reporting, and enjoys building scalable, reliable solutions that enable informed decisions across manufacturing and enterprise operations.
Core Responsibilities
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of data warehouse, reporting, and analytics solutions, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
• Design, develop, and maintain data warehouse and business intelligence solutions that support manufacturing and enterprise priorities.
• Partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand requirements, define solution approaches, and deliver reporting and analytics capabilities.
• Develop and maintain T-SQL procedures, functions, queries, and scripts to support data integration, reporting, and analytics needs.
• Design, build, and support ETL processes for the intake and transformation of data from manufacturing and enterprise systems.
• Research, analyze, and troubleshoot data issues, stored procedures, and associated SSRS or Power BI reports.
• Collaborate with database administration teams to assess server health, database performance, and query optimization opportunities, including indexing and query tuning.
• Develop and support data migration procedures and scripts for project and operational initiatives.
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of data warehouse architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with best practices.
• Maintain analytics and data warehouse code in version control and follow established SDLC standards.
• Support operationally critical work and project timelines, including global support needs when required.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions.
• 5+ years of experience with Microsoft BI technologies, including SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
• Strong experience with T-SQL development, including stored procedures, functions, performance tuning, and query optimization.
• Experience developing data warehouse, ETL, and end-user reporting solutions, including Power BI or similar dashboard and reporting tools.
• Experience working within a Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills or Experience
• Experience using Agile project methodologies.
• Experience supporting manufacturing or factory floor systems and processes.
• Familiarity with Camstar or other Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
• Experience with manufacturing-related systems such as MES, CMMS, SPC, and OSI PI, including knowledge of their underlying data models.
• Knowledge of industry best practices in data warehousing, business intelligence architecture, and analytics delivery.
• Experience working with relational databases in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
• Experience using TFS, GitLab, or similar source control platforms.
• Understanding of cubes and complex reporting or information models.
• Clear understanding of OLTP and OLAP systems.
• Experience supporting analytics or reporting solutions in a regulated or operationally sensitive environment.
Work Details
• Position may be based in New York or Charlotte, North Carolina, with a hybrid work model or regional proximity preferred.
• Travel requirement: 0% to 25%, including domestic and international travel.
