Overview

Client is seeking an early-career Data Scientist to support quantitative biosciences and early drug discovery work. This role will apply Python, scientific computing, machine learning, statistical analysis, and computational methods to help scientists analyze complex research data and generate hypotheses for target discovery.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop new machine learning workflows, including deep learning workflows, to support the discovery of new medicines.
  • Contribute to property prediction models for small molecules.
  • Apply informatics, modeling, and computational techniques to identify new drug discovery leads.
  • Support the evolution of leads into drug candidates through data science and molecular modeling.
  • Lead statistical analyses and research data science solutions for small molecule and peptide workflows.
  • Analyze complex data outputs from high-throughput experimentation.
  • Partner with biologists, chemists, and interdisciplinary discovery teams.
  • Interpret analytical results and provide clear data insights to scientific stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

  • Bachelor's degree in Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • 0-3 years of experience.
  • Python experience for scientific computing.
  • Experience with NumPy, PyTorch, or similar scientific computing libraries.
  • Hands-on data science and machine learning experience.
  • Experience with high-performance computing in a Unix/Linux OS environment or familiarity with cloud computing such as AWS.
  • Working knowledge of biochemistry and/or chemistry.

Preferred Skills or Experience

  • Master's or PhD in Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • Experience with research projects in pharmaceutical early discovery.
  • Experience applying advanced machine learning techniques to drug discovery.
  • Experience developing large-scale chemical foundation models for virtual screening.
  • Experience with protein structure-related models.

Work Details

  • Hybrid role: 2 days remote and 3 days onsite.
  • Work location: Rahway, NJ.
  • Pharmaceutical industry environment.
