Overview
The Data Lakehouse Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the enterprise data engineering practice, with ownership of design, development, modernization, and operational excellence of the organization’s Snowflake-based Lakehouse platform on Azure. This role provides hands-on architectural leadership and people management to ensure reliable, scalable, and highquality data pipelines while supporting and evolving the existing data ecosystem. The manager partners with business and IT stakeholders to deliver analytics, BI, and data solutions that enable informed decisionmaking and business outcomes. In addition to technical oversight, this role is accountable for resource planning, delivery execution, mentoring, and maintaining high team morale, while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and growthoriented environment.
Core Responsibilities
Provide operational direction, support, and guidance to assigned co-workers
Allocate routine tasks or project work, in line with team objectives and individual capabilities. Monitor quality and performance against agreed criteria, to make learning recommendations or to escalate concerns
Facilitate effective working relationships between team members
Assist in the sourcing, hiring, and onboarding of new team members
Foster a positive, supportive, and fun work environment while providing opportunities for team members to try new roles and take on new responsibilities
Train or provide appropriate training and development for employees; provide direction, coach, provide feedback and support, counsel, and motivate employees
Ensure adherence to company policies
Create and present reports as requested
Contribute to the organization's overall information/data management strategy, ensuring that it is an integrated part of the overall business & IT strategies
Provide recommendations and solutions for improving data accessibility as driven by the business need for knowledge and decision-making capabilities
Encourage and support innovative communities, teams, and individuals to share creative ideas and learn from failures
Skills Qualifications
Strong ability to plan and allocate work based on priorities, delivery timelines, and team capabilities
Experience with hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and employee development
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Expert knowledge of the enterprise uses of data and end-to-end data flow within the enterprise.
Strong understanding of cloud data platforms on Microsoft Azure
Hands-on expertise with:
Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration
Talend for ETL/ELT and data integration
Qlik and Qlik Cloud for BI and analytics
SQL and Java for data transformation and custom processing
Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics
ELT coding and code handling best practices
Education
Required:
BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
15 years or more of related work experience
Compensation
The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the *** reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. At the ***, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
