Position Overview

We're looking for an experienced Data Conversion Analyst to support data migration and system conversion projects within the insurance industry. This person will work with business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors to extract, transform, map, and validate data as information moves between systems.

The ideal candidate is hands-on with SQL and Excel, understands the complexities of data conversions, and can independently manage projects from initial data analysis through post-conversion validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract, analyze, clean, and transform data from various source systems using SQL, Excel, Alteryx, and other data technologies.
  • Perform source-to-target data mapping, prepare conversion templates, and support data imports into destination systems.
  • Validate and reconcile converted data, troubleshoot discrepancies, and resolve data quality issues.
  • Identify opportunities for custom scripting, automation, and improved conversion processes.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to define requirements, resolve mapping issues, and coordinate conversion activities.
  • Lead data review meetings, track conversion milestones, and maintain documentation throughout the migration process.
  • Support occasional on-site customer visits during key implementation activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, data transformation, data conversion, or similar technical data-focused positions.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL, including querying, analyzing, and working with complex datasets.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookup functions, PivotTables, VBA, and data manipulation techniques.
  • Experience examining large datasets, identifying errors or inconsistencies, and determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Understanding of data structures, field mapping, and the steps involved in preparing information for migration between systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve complex data-related problems.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple assignments, prioritize competing deadlines, and follow projects through completion.
  • Comfortable working in environments where project needs, timelines, and technical requirements may change.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data-related findings and technical concepts to both business users and technical teams.
  • Experience collaborating across different departments, working with external partners, and participating in customer-facing discussions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accountability for assigned work.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, approximately 10%.
  • Flexibility to support limited evening or weekend activities during important conversion or implementation milestones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the insurance industry, particularly Property & Casualty insurance, brokerage operations, or related technology environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, particularly Dataflows Gen2, or other Microsoft-based data integration technologies.
  • Experience using Alteryx or similar tools to prepare, transform, and automate data workflows.
  • Knowledge of insurance agency management platforms or comparable enterprise business applications.
  • Experience migrating data between enterprise applications, particularly when consolidating information from multiple systems.
  • Practical experience with source-to-target mapping, data transformation, reconciliation, and conversion validation.
  • Involvement in enterprise technology implementations, platform migrations, acquisitions, or system consolidation projects.
  • Experience creating or supporting scripts, automated processes, or custom solutions that improve data preparation and conversion efficiency.
