Data Center Liquid Cooling Installation Technician (Direct-to-Chip / Liquid-to-Chip Cooling)
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Data Center Liquid Cooling Installation Technicians to support the deployment, installation, plumbing, testing, and commissioning of next-generation Direct-to-Chip (DTC) and Liquid-to-Chip cooling solutions within enterprise and hyperscale data center environments. Technicians will be responsible for assisting with the installation of cooling distribution units (CDUs), liquid cooling manifolds, flexible hose assemblies, rack-level plumbing infrastructure, coolant distribution networks, and direct-to-chip cooling components that support high-density AI, HPC, and GPU computing environments.
This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, experience working in mission-critical environments, and the ability to follow detailed engineering drawings, installation procedures, and safety protocols. Candidates should be comfortable working around active IT equipment while ensuring the highest levels of workmanship and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
Direct-to-Chip Cooling Installation
- Install direct-to-chip cooling systems on servers, GPU clusters, and high-density compute platforms.
- Assist with the installation of cold plates, coolant distribution components, and server-level liquid cooling hardware.
- Connect liquid cooling assemblies to rack-level distribution systems.
- Verify proper routing and connection of supply and return coolant lines.
- Support OEM and manufacturer installation procedures for liquid-cooled IT equipment.
Rack-Level Liquid Cooling Deployment
- Install rack manifolds, coolant distribution assemblies, and rack plumbing infrastructure.
- Route and secure flexible hoses, tubing, and coolant supply lines.
- Install dripless quick-disconnect fittings and leak-free connection assemblies.
- Verify proper hose routing, bend radius compliance, and cable separation requirements.
- Assist with rack integration activities involving both cooling and network infrastructure.
CDU (Cooling Distribution Unit) Installation
- Install and position Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs).
- Connect CDUs to facility water systems and rack cooling infrastructure.
- Assist with startup and commissioning procedures.
- Support pressure testing and system validation activities.
- Verify flow rates, temperatures, and operational parameters.
Mechanical and Plumbing Activities
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install tubing and liquid cooling components.
- Install copper, stainless steel, PEX, or manufacturer-specific tubing systems.
- Assemble fittings, valves, manifolds, pumps, and coolant distribution hardware.
- Read plumbing schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Ensure proper alignment and support of piping systems.
- Perform system flushing and coolant preparation activities as directed.
Testing and Commissioning
- Assist with leak detection and pressure testing procedures.
- Verify integrity of cooling loops before system activation.
- Support commissioning teams during startup activities.
- Record testing results and installation documentation.
- Identify and report deficiencies or installation issues.
Data Center Operations Support
- Maintain strict adherence to data center operational procedures.
- Work safely around energized equipment and critical infrastructure.
- Follow change management and access control procedures.
- Maintain a clean work area and protect customer equipment from contamination.
- Support project managers, engineers, and commissioning teams as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Experience with mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or liquid cooling systems.
- Ability to read construction drawings, blueprints, and installation diagrams.
- Familiarity with liquid cooling technologies and cooling distribution systems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, tubing cutters, torque tools, and measuring equipment.
- Understanding of coolant distribution networks and fluid flow concepts.
- Ability to perform detailed installation work with precision and accuracy.
Preferred Experience
- Direct-to-Chip Cooling (DTC) installation experience.
- Liquid-to-Chip cooling deployment experience.
- CDU installation and commissioning experience.
- Data center construction or operations experience.
- Experience supporting AI, GPU, HPC, or high-density computing environments.
- Knowledge of rack infrastructure and mission-critical facilities.
- Experience working with coolant loops, manifolds, and flexible hose assemblies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Comfortable working on ladders and under raised-floor environments when required.
- Ability to work in active data center environments while maintaining safety standards.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- First Aid / CPR

- Manufacturer liquid cooling certifications (if applicable)
