Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to lead the modernization of airline operational data platforms. This role will design canonical domain models, Change Data Capture pipelines, streaming solutions, and cloud integrations supporting crew management, passenger services, maintenance operations, baggage handling, and performance analytics.
Core Responsibilities
- Design scalable data-ingestion and transformation pipelines for operational data domains.
- Develop CDC and streaming solutions using Kafka or Amazon MSK to support real-time data synchronization.
- Design and implement canonical domain models across cloud platforms.
- Establish data-governance frameworks, data-quality standards, and monitoring practices.
- Define data requirements and integration strategies with cross-functional teams.
- Lead CI/CD implementation for data infrastructure and pipeline deployments.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote data architecture and engineering best practices.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
- 7 years of professional data architecture and design experience.
- 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in Change Data Capture and streaming technologies.
- Proficiency with Kafka or Amazon MSK.
- Strong experience with Azure and/or AWS.
- Experience designing data models and working with SQL.
- Proven expertise in data-quality frameworks and data-governance practices.
- Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure.
- Strong cross-team collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Skills or Experience
- AWS Flink stream-processing experience.
- DocumentDB or other NoSQL document database experience.
- GraphQL data API design experience.
- Apache Spark or a similar distributed computing framework.
- Infrastructure-as-Code tools and practices.
- Cross-cloud integration experience.
- Airline, logistics, or transportation data systems experience.
- Data mesh or domain-driven design experience.
Work Details
- Hybrid position in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.
- Onsite work is required three days per week.
- Project duration is 36 weeks.
- Occasional travel may be required for team meetings and conferences.
- Two-stage interview process: Insight interview followed by a Client interview.
- Candidates must complete interviews without AI bots, automated tools, or artificial intelligence assistance.
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and occasionally lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
