COST ACCOUNTANT

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in Tulsa.
This position will play a key role in understanding and analyzing the true cost of manufacturing operations, including materials, labor, overhead, inventory, and work in process.
The Cost Accountant will work closely with Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain, and Production to provide accurate cost information, identify variances, improve reporting, and help management better understand manufacturing performance and profitability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze manufacturing costs including materials, labor, overhead, and other production-related expenses
Maintain and analyze product and job costing information
Review actual manufacturing costs against standards, budgets, and expectations
Investigate material, labor, purchasing, and manufacturing variances
Monitor and analyze work in process (WIP), inventory, and production costs
Assist with inventory valuation, reconciliations, and cycle/count processes
Analyze job and project profitability and identify cost drivers impacting margins
Work with Operations and Production to understand cost variances and manufacturing performance
Develop detailed Excel-based reports, models, and analysis for management
Assist with month-end close activities related to inventory, WIP, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing expenses
Reconcile cost accounting information to the general ledger
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to manufacturing operations
Identify opportunities to improve cost controls, reporting, processes, and data accuracy
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Accounting to improve visibility into manufacturing costs
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting principles
Experience with inventory, WIP, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing variances
Strong Excel skills are required
Ability to analyze large amounts of financial and operational data
Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate financial information effectively with both accounting and operational teams
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Job costing or project-based manufacturing experience
Standard and actual costing experience
Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, data analysis, and large data sets
Experience working with complex bills of material and manufacturing routings
Experience in an engineered-to-order or make-to-order manufacturing environment
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is not simply a general accountant who has worked for a manufacturing company.
We are looking for someone who understands how things are actually built and how materials, labor, inventory, WIP, purchasing, and production decisions ultimately impact cost and profitability.
This person should be highly analytical, very strong in Excel, comfortable digging into the details, and capable of working directly with manufacturing and operations teams to determine why costs or margins differ from expectations.
